Police ID Pedestrian Killed In South Austin
The incident along William Cannon Drive on Nov. 6, at around 9:40 p.m. occurred after a man ran across six lanes of traffic.
AUSTIN, TX — Police on Wednesday identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle earlier this month while trying to cross a South Austin road.
The incident at 1413 W. William Cannon Dr. occurred on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at around 9:40 p.m. It was there that Armando Casares, 34, ran across the street mid-block — not in a crosswalk, police noted — over six lanes of traffic in trying to get to the other side of the road.
A white 2017 Lexus RX traveling eastbound on William Cannon Road in the middle lane struck Casares, according to a police advisory. Casares was transported to St. David's South Austin Hospital for treatment of his injuries, but died a week later on Nov. 13.
