Police Make Arrest In Fatal East Austin Shooting
Police responded to the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Gunter Street on Wednesday just before 6:45 p.m. amid reports of a shooting.

AUSTIN, TX — Police have made an arrest in a fatal shooting that occurred in East Austin on Wednesday evening, officials said.
Police responded to the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Gunter Street on Wednesday just before 6:45 p.m. amid reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, police located a man who had sustained a gunshot wound inside a car. Witnesses pointed officers to a parking lot where they said a passenger in the vehicle was hiding behind another car.
Officers then located the suspect and the firearm. The suspect was identified as Adrian Whitley, 43. The victim of the fatal shooting was identified as 38-year-old Darnell E. McClain. It's unclear what led to the violence, but police said the incident was isolated in conveying it was not a random shooting.

Police noted other witnesses left the scene without speaking to officers. Detectives urged those eyewitnesses to contact the homicide unit at (512) 974-TIPS.
