Popular North Italia Eatery To Open Downtown Austin Location

AUSTIN, TX — Popular eatery North Italia will open a second location in downtown Austin in February, restaurant officials said.

A modern Italian concept from Sam Fox — the man behind Culinary Dropout, Flower Child and True Food Kitchen — North Italia is scheduled to open its second locale at 500 West 2nd St. by next month. The restaurant has been open at The Domain for 10 years, serving handmade pastas and pizzas.

“Over the past 10 years, it’s been a privilege to watch our first Austin North Italia serve the thriving community at The Domain,” said Sam Fox, founder of Fox Restaurant Concepts. “We look forward to being a part of the growing 2ND Street District, serving a new community of neighboring businesses and all of downtown Austin.”

Top seasonal and inventive ingredients are used in North Italia to make its handcrafted cuisine from scratch, with Italian dishes available for brunch, lunch and dinner. The beverage menu includes a robust list of wines from Italy and other regions, a selection of local beers, shareable punches and inventive cocktails.

The North Italia downtown 8,530-square-foot space is on the first floor of the new LEED® Gold certified 500 West 2nd St. building. The space boasts an exhibition kitchen lined with North Italia’s signature red awning. A series of vast windows create an open and airy atmosphere among community tables and smaller private tables, officials added. The restaurant will also have an outdoor patio for al fresco dining which can seat up to 124 guests, officials added.

In preparation for the opening, North Italia is looking for "...dedicated, charming team members" to join their downtown location. Applications will be taken for positions including servers, host/hostesses, pastry cooks, prep cooks, line cooks, back servers, dishwashers and bartenders.
