Popular Tex-Mex Restaurant Near UT-Austin Catches Fire
Firefighters were dispatched to Trudy's, 409 W. 30th St., at around 11 p.m. on Saturday before quickly extinguishing the flames.

AUSTIN, TX — A small fire broke out at Trudy's Texas Star restaurant near the UT-Austin campus over the weekend, according to reports.
Firefighters responded to the incident at 409 W. 30th St. off Guadalupe Street at around 11 p.m. on Saturday. After quickly extinguishing the flames, fire officials determined the fire began in a kitchen vent but a cause is still undetermined.
No injuries were reported.

By Monday at around noon, the place didn't look the worse for wear as customers walked into the main dining area. A group of men gathered at the site where the fire was sparked examining the damage.

Offering Tex-Mex culinary fare, the spot is popular with students with its weekly enchilada specials and happy hour prices. One such patron took cell phone video of the fire he later posted on Twitter while expressing sadness over his favored eatery.
