  • A 16-foot python was rescued from the Coronado Hills area — ack!
  • The Statesman's Season for Caring program could use the community's support.

But first, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and breezy. High: 32 Low: 22.

Here are the top stories today in Austin:

1) As heavy winds pass through the city, isolated power outages are expected to be reported across the Austin area. Want to keep up with power outages? KVUE has the scoop here.

2) The Arctic Blast could bring the driest air ever documented in Austin. Get your lip balm, moisturizer, ointments and lotions ready! KXAN reports that "dew point temperatures today may drop as low as -15°. This would challenge an all-time record for the driest air ever sampled at Camp Mabry." KXAN has the full weather report here.

3) Still have room in your heart (and your wallet) to give back this season? The Statesman's Season for Caring program highlights 11 families who could use some extra support. Read their stories and make a monetary donation if you can, at statesman.com/seasonforcaring.

4) One of the last remaining houses on Rainey Street is up for sale. The bungalow sits on a 3,375-square-foot lot and is currently listed for a whopping $10 million. Given the bars, non-stop partying and noise in the Rainey Street District, I commend this community member for holding out as long as they could. Head over to KVUE to learn more about this story.
