Republic of Texas Biker Rally Means Congress Avenue Will Be Closed This Weekend
Main artery closed to accommodate motorcycle mass events from Friday at 6 p.m. through midnight Saturday, and those parking will be towed.

AUSTIN, TX — Get your motor runnin,' head out on the highway! Lookin' for adventure, and whatever comes our way!
Which is all to remind residents that beginning Friday, Congress Avenue will be closed for the Republic of Texas Biker Rally parade and events. This motorcycle mass will continue until Saturday.
What this means, of course, is that motorists won't be able to access the artery this weekend. What this also means is that those dismissing the closure and parking along Congress Avenue will be towed starting at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 9.

The parade starts at 7:45 p.m. from the Travis County Exposition Center heading south on Decker to FM 969/East MLK Blvd. Participants then will turn left on Webberville road, left on Springdale road, right on Oak Springs Dr./Rosewood Ave., left on Hargrove, right on Pleasant Valley Rd. (over the bridge), left on Chestnut, right on Rosewood, right on 11th St., left of Congress Ave.

Street closures on Congress Ave. include: Congress Ave. from Cesar Chavez to 11th St. and the side streets of Congress Ave. will be closed between Brazos and Colorado streets at 6 p.m. However, cross traffic on 5th and 6th Streets will remain open until 7:30 p.m., at which point they too will be shut down.

There will be a higher-than-normal volume of motorcycle and pedestrian traffic, police note, so remember to be patient and look twice when travelling on Austin roadways. They add their tip with the hashtag #ArriveAlive for good measure.
All told, the bike rally begins Friday, June 9, 2017 at 6 p.m. through Saturday, June 10, 2017 at midnight. to accommodate the rally's parade and events.
