Here are the top stories in Austin today:

1) Two women were arrested after being connected to Downtown Austin druggings and robberies. On Wednesday, the Austin Police Department "announced the arrest of a mother-daughter duo linked to at least four cases of robbery and alleged druggings." KVUE reports: "...Sharon Jacobs, 44, and Tamiya Jacobs, 23, stole more than $55,000 from multiple victims in Downtown Austin during the weekend of Feb. 11-13. The APD added that five additional suspects are also believed to be involved in this series of crimes." Head to KVUE for the full scoop.

2) Feel-good news: Formula One kicks off this weekend and two drivers made a pit stop at Dell Children's Medical Center. Haas F1 drivers Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen spent Wednesday afternoon playing games (Mario Kart, to be specific!), signing autographs, taking pictures, and hanging with the kiddos. Awww, I'm not crying, you are! FOX 7 Austin has more on the drivers' visit.

3) The Austin Community College District Board of Trustees placed a $770 million bond on the November ballot. The goal of the bond is to build, renovate and expand ACC facilities and to provide resources to students to continue with their education. Want to learn more about the bond proposition? KUT's got the scoop here.

4) On Oct. 19, the six candidates for the Austin City Council seat for District 5 participated in a forum to discuss their stances on top local issues. Current District 5 council member Ann Kitchen is not running again. Head to KUT to watch a recording of the event.

5) The world's biggest surf park is coming to ... Austin? Surf Lakes confirms it's true! Surf Lakes would occupy 400 acres for its newest development just south of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. KVUE reports: "The development will be called Pura Vida and is set to include a sand beach, hotels, boardwalks, shopping, and residential buildings." Surf's up, neighbors! KVUE has more on the expected plans for this project here.
