A Special Cocktail For Your Sweetie

In a daily email onslaught, sometimes there are hidden gems amid the clutter. This is one of those cases

AUSTIN, TX — We purveyors of news and information get sent a lot of stuff in the mail on a daily basis. Sometimes, we get emails disguised as news or others cleverly woven into a broader message not unlike when politicians insert pork as amendments slyly tacked onto an omnibus bill.

Often, we purveyor of news and information find this annoying, just so much clutter to an already-brimming email box. But sometimes, there's a jewel hidden there. This is such a case.

Someone sent us something tantalizingly titled "A Recipe For Your Sweetie, beckoning us to click on it to find the details therein. We're happy that we did, as we discovered what sounds like a delicious cocktail dubbed Seersucker Smooch of which we were unfamiliar. Better yet, it's perfect for the upcoming St. Valentine's Day observance.

The email came from Seersucker Southern Style Gin. Shameless self-promotion? Sure. Surreptitious commercial plug? Yeah, you bet. But we're talking Seersucker Smooch here, described as the perfect bubbly, pink cocktail for that special someone.

"This romantic cocktail is made with Seersucker Southern Style Gin, St. Germain, aperol, lemon juice, a dash of Peychaud’s bitters and finished with your choice of bubbly," the sender writes, prompting us to write a note to self to head to the liquor store tomorrow for the ingredients.
