Strong Odor In Car Makes Austin Cops Nauseous

Austin police officers sought medical treatment after a strong odor in their patrol vehicle overtook them, officials said.

AUSTIN, TX — Austin police officers sought medical treatment after a strong odor in their patrol vehicle overtook them, officials said.

The officers (the number affected wasn't disclosed) were working together in the same vehicle when they started to feel nauseous and developed headaches. The officers rolled down the windows of the vehicle while traveling to retrieve a replacement vehicle, the Austin Police Department wrote in a press advisory.

Austin Fire Department crews tested the vehicle for carbon monoxide but the tests proved negative, officials said.

Both officers were transported to a local hospital for evaluation before they were treated and released. The vehicle was pulled from service for inspection for any leaks.
