Suspected South Austin Gas Leak Reduces South Congress Traffic To One Lane

Delays of up to two hours expected while crews try to pinpoint source of leak and make repairs.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- Gas utility crews have closed two lanes of South Congress Avenue near Riverside Drive as a result of a possible gas leak.

The possible gas leak in South Austin was discovered earlier Thursday during a routine inspection of gas lines, Texas Gas Service spokeswoman told the Austin American-Statesman.

As a result, traffic on South Congress between Cesar Chavez Street and Riverside Drive is reduced to one lane as crews work to identify the leak and fix the line.
