UT-Austin Police Scrutinize 'Suspicious Item' On Campus
Campus police were called to Patton Hall shortly after 7 p.m. with Austin Police Department counterparts and canines Thursday evening.
AUSTIN, TX — University of Texas at Austin police were investigation a suspicious item on campus on Thursday evening before determining the package was benign, officials said.
Campus police were called to Patton Hall shortly after 7 p.m. with their counterparts from the Austin Police Department and canines trained to sniff out bombs, officials wrote on Twitter. A notice was sent out to the university community alerting them to clear the area as they determined the level of threat.
About an hour later, police gave the all-clear without providing specifics about the outcome of the incident.

It's unclear if any evacuations took place as a result of the incident.
