SWAT Standoff Ends Peacefully In Northeast Austin
It's unclear what prompted the robust police response along the 5700 block of Pecan Brook Drive, but police said the person was in custody.
AUSTIN, TX — A person was in custody on Saturday afternoon after prompting a police SWAT standoff shortly after 12:30 p.m. in northeast Austin.
The incident occurred along the 5700 block of Pecan Brook Drive, according to a police tweet posted shortly after 12:30 p.m. Some three hours later, police issued the all-clear: "The subject from the earlier SWAT call was safely taken into custody and is being treated by EMS," police wrote in a subsequent tweet. "Residents can return to their homes at this time."
It's unclear what prompted the police response. Police earlier indicated they would provide details at a Saturday afternoon press conference. Patch will update if more information is shared.
