SXSW Seeks Volunteers For Massive Austin Conference

Scheduled for March 9-12, the event relies on a team of local, national and international volunteers to contribute their time and skills.

AUSTIN, TX — Organizers of the annual South by Southwest Conference & Festivals scheduled this spring is seeking volunteers to help stage the massive event.

Scheduled for March 13 - 22, the event relies on a team of local, national and international volunteers to contribute their time and skills while offering them access to what's next in film, music, tech and education.

For the first time this year, volunteers will be able to sign up, pick their crew, and select volunteer shifts online, making it easier than ever to volunteer for SXSW. Crew and schedule selection will launch on Wednesday, Jan. 15, organizers noted. Those interested are encouraged to create their online accounts as soon as possible to receive email updates regarding crew and shift availability.

Some crews are expected to fill up quickly, so would-be volunteers are urged not to delay their registration. Volunteer signup is open online at http://volunteer.sxsw.com/register.

Volunteers wishing to visit their crew managers in person or seek help with their schedules may attend an informal volunteer fair on Sunday, Jan. 26 in Ballroom A of the Austin Convention Center, from noon to 6 p.m.

SXSW offers different crew types, providing volunteers the role and schedule that works best for them. Volunteers can choose from more than 25 different crews supporting the production and operations of the conference and festivals. Crews include Artist Parking Operations, Event Signage, Ambassadors, SXSW Pitch, Stage Crew, Exhibitions, Event Transportation, Line Management, Sessions, and more. Volunteers must be able to contribute a minimum of 24 hours during the event to earn a badge. Both day and night positions are available.
