Here are the top stories today in Austin:
- The 2022 South by Southwest (SXSW) Austin event has wrapped up for the year, and after three years of being held virtually due to COVID-19, this year's in-person event "felt more historic than ever." From March 11-20, the 10-day "conference highlighted some of the most inspired thinkers and industry leaders across 15 tracks, 9 summits, and SXSW community-curated sessions" and "served as an epic reunion of creatives from around the world, eager to share new ideas and get moving on solutions." For this year's event highlights, and for updates on participation opportunities and 2023 registration and application information, follow SXSW "on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn and SXSW News. (sxsw.com)
- Jet-A jet fuel facility "is part of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport's master plan for growth, which was approved by the city council in 2018," and it is "needed to keep up with increasing airline and passenger demand." Vanessa Fuentes, an Austin City Council member, is asking council members "to approve a resolution "for the Austin airport to relocate its proposed jet fuel farm" and "require an environmental justice analysis to be performed along with 'robust community engagement.'" On Jan. 29, the airport hosted an information session for concerned residents in the area and on Thursday, April 7, city council members will discuss Fuentes' resolution.
