SXSW Wristbands For Austin Residents Go On Sale Tuesday

Residency has its privileges, as $169 wristbands go on sale for those with local zip codes costing non-residents more than $1,000.

AUSTIN, TX — It's nearing that time again: South by Southwest. And Tuesday morning, SXSW Music Festival wristbands go on sale but only if you're an Austin resident.

As KXAN reports, the SXSW wristbands are priced at $169 for local residents. Having an Austin zip code comes in handy as those without one pay a minimum $1,225 for a film, music or interactive badge. Yet buying a wristband doesn't guarantee entry into every SXSW show or screening; such access is guaranteed only for those buying the pricey, fancy badges.

Wristbands go on sale at 10:30 a.m., and are expected to go quickly, according to festival organizers. The SXSW event draws untold thousands from all over the world for an entertainment-event week taking place from March 13-20 covering 100 stages and some 2,000 performers throughout Central Austin.
