Teen Killed In South Austin Drive-By Shooting

Police say the 19-year-old shooting victim Friday night along East Stassney Lane was just visiting, and likely not the intended target.

AUSTIN, TX — Police identified the man who was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in South Austin over the weekend.

The incident dates to Friday, March 13, when police were called to the 2200 block of East Stassney Lane at around 11:10 p.m. amid a report of shots being fired. Callers described the incident as a drive-by shooting, alerting that one person had been hit by bullets.

Upon arrival, police and medics encountered a man suffering from life-threatening injuries. The shooting victim was rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:54 p.m., police said. Officials identified the man as Oscar M. San Juan Jaimes, 19.

After speaking with witnesses, detectives learned the shooting was the culmination of a an ongoing feud. However, police said in a press advisory, Jaimes was likely not the intended target given that he was merely visiting the address.
