AUSTIN, TX -- A season on the brink may have been salvaged Saturday when Texas beat previously undefeated Baylor 35-34. Texas overcame an eight-point fourth quarter deficit to beat the No. 8 Bears and coach Charlie Strong is hoping his team can parlay that momentum into another victory over host Texas Tech.

The Longhorns have their work cut out for them against the Red Raiders, despite the fact Texas Tech is only 4-4. The Red Raiders lead the nation in passing, thanks to quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has thrown for 3,519 yards and 28 touchdowns. Texas’ defense has struggled all season, allowing almost 33 points per game. That does not bode well for the Longhorns.

If Texas is to prevail, the Longhorns will almost certainly have to outscore Texas Tech. Which is exactly what Texas did against Baylor. Tailback D’Onta Foreman was the star of the show Saturday as he carried the ball 32 times for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns. Longhorns quarterback Shane Buechele also had a strong game, throwing for 291 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Red Raiders snapped a three-game losing streak with a 27-24 double overtime win over TCU.
