AUSTIN, TX — After falling to No. 16 West Virginia last week in Austin, Texas remains one win from bowl eligibility. The Longhorns should become bowl eligible soon, though, as Kansas figures to provide minimal opposition.
Texas played well in the loss to the Mountaineers, as quarterback Shane Buechele threw for 318 yards (along with a touchdown and interception) while running back D’Onta Foreman continued his stellar season with 35 carries for 167 yards. Wide receiver Dorian Leonard also had a strong game as he caught seven passes for 125 yards. The defense also did its part, holding West Virginia quarterback Skyler Howard to 269 passing yards with only one touchdown and three interceptions.
All of that being said, Texas still lost and never lead against the Mountaineers, trailing at one point 17-3. Kansas should be the cure for what ails the Longhorns as the Jayhawks are giving up 39 points per game, which will entice the explosive Texas offense.
