Texas Transportation Officials Roll Out Interactive Dodgeball Experience Cautioning On Driver Impairment [Video]

'Plan While You Can' experience illustrates how alcohol consumption can inhibit reflexes.

AUSTIN, TX — State transportation officials will roll out their “Plan While You Can” interactive dodgeball experience in Austin on Sunday to demonstrate how drinking alcoholic beverages can impair a driver's reflexes.

With Cinco de Mayo festivities in full swing, TxDOT continues its “Plan While You Can” campaign in an effort to reduce crashes and save lives, officials said. The campaign urges drivers to plan ahead for a sober ride home while utilizing the “Plan While You Can” interactive dodgeball game to show the effects of alcohol on a driver’s reaction time.

In 2016, there were 24,507 crashes in Texas involving drivers under the influence of alcohol. Those crashes led to 965 fatalities and 2,294 serious injuries.
