🌱Three UT Faculty Receive Scholar Awards + Austinite On 'Law & Order'
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Austin.

Hi all. I'm back in your inbox this morning with everything you need to know about what's happening these days in town. Let's do it...
First, today's weather:
Clouds breaking and hot. High: 101 Low: 74.
Here are the top stories today in Austin:
- After "recreating a T-shirt she saw on a popular Netflix show," Texas student Reagan Allen sold the shirts and "raised thousands of dollars to benefit the families of the Uvalde shooting victims." Originally, Nancy Wheeler, a main character on "the new season of Stranger Things," was seen wearing the "vintage purple Emerson shirt." Allen said, "Everyone was really excited about the shirt, and they were kind of looking for places to buy it." As a graphic arts student, she recreated the shirt, and the rest is history! All proceeds from the shirt sales "will go to the Texas Elementary School Shooting Victims Fund. " For more on this story visit: (KXAN.com)
- "Pet King Brands, maker of pet health care brands ZymoX Enzymatic Dermatology and Oratene Enzymatic Brushless Oral Care," recently opened a new office in Austin. Pamela K. Bosco, president and founder of Pet King Brands, said, "Austin was our first pick because of its location within the country that includes close proximity to major airports and other resources, its great talent pool and also because it's one of the country's top 20 pet-centric cities." She added, "We'll now be able to expand our capabilities so we can service more distributors, retailers, veterinarians and most importantly, consumers, around the world." (DVM 360)
- Three UT faculty members recently "received 2022-2023 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program awards from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board." Sonia Feigenbaum, senior vice provost for global engagement and chief international officer, said, "We are proud of their significant contributions in transnational teaching and research, and of the university's longstanding partnership with Fulbright. This opportunity will advance the work of these professors in their respective fields while cultivating collaboration between UT Austin and our peer institutions abroad." - Mehcad Brooks, who was born in Austin, will be joining the "cast of NBC drama 'Law & Order." On Monday, June 13, the announcement was made "by multiple outlets including Deadline" and "Brooks later confirmed the reports via Twitter." Although this news has already been confirmed, it's still not known who he will play on the show. Read more at: (austin360)
