Traffic Alert: Interstate 35 Lanes To Close For Bridge Work

Southbound main lanes near Oltorf Street will be closed Tuesday to allow crews to safely install a new overhead sign bridge.

AUSTIN, TX — Work crews will temporary close Interstate 35 lanes in South Austin on Tuesday to accommodate overhead sign bridge installation, transportation officials said on Friday.

Weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation will temporarily close the southbound I-35 main lanes near Oltorf Street on Tuesday night, March 3, to allow crews to safely install a new overhead sign bridge that will span the width of the southbound I-35 main lanes, officials said in a press advisory.

Beginning at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, the southbound I-35 main lanes will be closed between Oltorf Street and Woodward Street. Traffic will detour to the southbound I-35 frontage road at the Woodward Street exit (#231) and can re-enter the I-35 main lanes at the entrance ramp north of Woodward Street. All lanes will reopen to traffic as work is completed, but no later than 5 a.m., officials assured.
