Travis County Made 16 DWI Arrests During Holiday Period
Bolstered enforcement period took place from Dec. 15-31, similar to Austin Police Department effort that netted 200-plus arrests.
TRAVIS COUNTY, TX — The Travis County Sheriff's Office said on Tuesday its deputies made 16 DWI arrests in the recent holiday period among other citations.
The bolstered period of enforcement took place from Dec. 15-31. The enforcement was made possible via an Impaired Driving Mobilization (IDM) grant for DWI offenses from the Texas Department of Transportation, enabling the county to dispatch additional deputies on county roadways.

- 16 arrests for DWI;
- 46 citations;
- 14 speeding citations;
- 1 additional arrest.
Austin police also implemented a bolstered enforcement period to curb holiday drunk driving, launching their effort from Dec. 15 to Jan. 2. The Austin crackdown netted 210 arrests.
