Travis County Sheriff To Bolster Memorial Day Patrols
The Travis County Sheriff's Office will be on the lookout for drunk drivers at Lake Travis and area roadways this weekend, officials said.
TRAVIS COUNTY, TX — The Travis County Sheriff’s Office will have an increased presence on Lake Travis and area roadways during Memorial Day weekend, officials said this week.
The sheriff's Lake Patrol unit will be fully staffed while on the lookout for intoxicated boaters on Lake Travis, officials said in a news release. DWI, traffic and patrol units will be on the lookout for intoxicated drivers as well as serious traffic offenses, the sheriff's office added.
The Travis County Sheriff's Office is coordinating its enforcement plans with other agencies including the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, according to the advisory.

"While COVID-19 has changed some aspects of how we interact with the public, social distancing will not keep us from making DWI arrests," sheriff's officials said in a preapared statement. "We remind everyone to be safe and courteous out there and as always, buckle up, and don’t drink and drive."
