Travis County Sheriff's Office Investigates Fatal Stabbing

Pedro Esteban, 38, was found bleeding profusely on July 4 before he died as police continue to search for his attacker.

AUSTIN, TX — A man was stabbed to death on July 4 as police continue to search for his killer, officials said on Friday.

The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. along the 15700 block of FM 812. Upon arrival, Travis County deputies found Pedro Esteban, 38, a native of Mexico, bleeding profusely. Deputies administered first aid but Esteban was pronounced dead at 9:52 p.m.

An investigation led detectives to identify a person of interest in the death who was acquainted with the victim, officials said. Detectives are working to fully identify the person of interest, the sheriff's office said, and the US Marshal’s Task Force will assist in locating him.

The incident marked the first homicide in 2019 for the Travis County Sheriff's Office, officials said.
