2 Austin Police Officers Deliver Baby Along Busy Interstate
The two officers were conducting a traffic stop when a driver pulled up and alerted them to his wife who was giving birth in the car.

AUSTIN, TX - Police officers nationwide answer many interesting calls, however, it's not every day they are called to deliver a baby. Yet that's exactly what happened to two officers with the Austin Police Department Wednesday.
According to the police department, officers Vandervalk and Tuminelli were conducting a traffic stop at the Chevron at East Sixth Street and North Interstate 35 when another car raced up and stopped beside them.
A panicked driver got out and pointed to the backseat where the mother of his child was actively giving birth, police said. Officer Tuminelli immediately called for EMS while Officer Vandervalk gloved up and opened the door, just in time for the brand new baby to be delivered.

Officer Vandervalk cleared baby girl’s nose and mouth to make sure she was breathing and both officers stood by with them until EMS arrived, according to APD.
Thanks to the help of the officers, Vicente Lopez and his wife are now the proud parents of a baby girl. Following the delivery, Lopez stopped for a moment to snap a quick photo with the Tuminelli and Vandervalk.
