So you might want to tote that umbrella or have that aesthetically-non-pleasing-yet-utilitarian plastic rain poncho within easy reach.

AUSTIN, TX — Attention people of Austin and surrounding areas: There's a 60 percent chance of scattered showers forecast for Saturday, so you might want to tote that umbrella or have that aesthetically-non-pleasing-yet-utilitarian plastic rain poncho within easy reach.
According to Weather.com, the chance of scattered showers has grown since last night from 50 percent to 60 percent. As most of us know by now, this means that 60 percent of the region is expected to get showers, kind of like a climactic crap shoot.
The high during the day is expected to reach 89 degrees. Oh, and by the evening hours, the chance for rain increases to 100 percent. This means that 100 percent of the region is expected to...oh, wait. We already explained this.

As this is being typed, the temperature in Austin is 94 degrees. Earlier in the day, the high temperature reached 95 degrees—a new record since record-keeping began. The normal temperature for this day historically is 83 degrees, with the previous record of 94 degrees set way back yonder in 1955, according to the people compiling such information at the Weather.com site.
With the humidity Friday afternoon, it feels like 100 degrees, the weather people are saying. "You know what they say: "It's not so much the heat, but the humidity." And, yes, we also hate when people say this, even though it happens to be true.

The low Saturday night will be a pleasant 57 degrees, the weather folks say, but then again that pleasantness might be nullified by those not enjoying the rain, of which, again, 100 percent of the region is expected to experience. The record low on this day was in 2008, when it dipped down to 47 degrees. So at least there's that, rain haters. I guess what we're saying here is that it could be worse.
Come Sunday, the chances of rain will entirely dissipate, the weather people say. The low temp is expected to dip down to 53 degrees with a high being forecast at 77 degrees.
Ah, Sunday fun day in the offing. That's not a prediction from the Weather.com, but offered as a personal observation. Patch wishes all a wonderful weekend, come rain or come shine.
