AUSTIN, TX — The Paramount and Stateside Theaters' Summer Classic Film Series is in full swing, having already delighted fans last week with the classic movie "Casablanca." The three-month-long celebration of movies will be presenting more than 110 films, and movie buffs can look forward to more well-preserved film prints and dazzling digital restorations, romance and laughs and thrills and so much more.
Patch has two tickets to give away to new subscribers. It's free to subscribe, and you'll be up on all your community's current events. What's in store for the lucky winners is this year's “Family Film Festival” series, returning with special screenings throughout the series for the whole family with discounted pricing for kids. The family-friendly series begins on June 3rd with The Wizard of Oz and are peppered throughout the Series with shows including The Little Mermaid, Annie, Superman (40th anniversary), The Nightmare Before Christmas (25th anniversary), and more.
Each year, the SCFS spotlights a variety of beloved and memorable movies, many of which are anniversary screenings, under well-curated themes. They’ll have “Fantastic Heroines,” with The Wiz (40th anniversary), The Red Shoes (70th anniversary), and more; “Dystopian Visions,” including Metropolis, Mad Max, and Brazil; “Back to School,” featuring National Lampoon’s Animal House (40th anniversary); “O Coen Brothers, Where Art Thou?,” featuring The Big Lebowski (20th anniversary); “Fright Nights,” including Night of the Living Dead (50th anniversary) and Jaws; “Defiant Women,” with Thelma & Louise and The Passion of Joan of Arc (90th anniversary); “Soundtrack Saturday,” including Grease (40th anniversary) and American Graffiti (45th anniversary); and so many more.

Or you could save your extra ticket for dear old dad as your plus-one. On June 17, the Paramount will be screening Goldfinger and Field of Dreams — both proven paternal and avuncular favorites. Or you could hold off until July, when Iron and Wine’s Sam Beam will return to the Theater to host a special screening of Sorcerer with free small popcorn for guests.
The wildly popular “Martinis & Manicures” film events will return this August with Breakfast at Tiffany’s and The Devil Wears Prada, offering guests martinis and manicures before the presentations. Pay homage to the master with “Hitchcock Week” August 14–19 with screenings of The Lady Vanishes (80th anniversary), Vertigo (60th anniversary), North by Northwest, and more. Celebrate “70MM Week” with the following big films on the big screen: 2001: A Space Odyssey (50 anniversary), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Lawrence of Arabia.
The 2018 Summer Classic Film Series comes to a triumphant close with a weekend of two epic romances: Giant on Friday, August 31st and Gone with the Wind on Saturday, Sept. 1.
Sponsored by Capital Metro, this year's series marks 43 years of the Paramount bringing classic films to Austin for the beloved series, which kicked off May 24 and will run through September 1st. CapMetro is going all out with in their sponsorship role, hosting Transit Adventure Nights throughout the series with free admission, free popcorn and a free Transit Day Pass.
