Winning Powerball Numbers For Wednesday, October 25, 2017: $191 Million Jackpot

Single winner in Louisiana matches winning numbers, re-setting jackpot to $40 million for Saturday, Oct. 28.

AUSTIN, TX — A single ticket sold in Louisiana won the $191.1 million Powerball jackpot in Wednesday's drawing, Louisiana lottery officials announced early Thursday.

There was no immediate word on the exact location where the winning ticket was purchased. Additionally, two Powerball tickets worth $1 million each were sold in Florida, along with more than 700,000 smaller prizes collectively valued at $7.7 million.

Given those smaller prizes, you might want to still check your ticket even in knowing the big jackpot is now spoken for. The winning Powerball numbers for Wednesday, Oct. 25, are: 18, 22, 29, 54, 57, and the Powerball of 08.

The cash option for Wednesday's winning ticket — the lump sum payment before taxes — is estimated at about $119.4 million. The successful drawing rolls back the next prize to $40 million at the next drawing given the emergence of a jackpot winner on Wednesday.

Whoever the lucky person in Louisiana is, he or she has beaten considerable odds in winning. The odds of picking the correct Powerball grand prize numbers are one in 292,201,338.

But as nice an amount as it is, it's dwarfed by past jackpot wins. The record payout was a $1.6 billion drawing in January 2016 shared by three winners in Florida, Tennessee and California. After that, was the Aug. 23 win of $758 million this summer. Before that, on Feb. 22, one lucky player in Indiana won the $435 million Powerball jackpot — the 10th largest in the Powerball history.
