You Remember the Vegetarian, You Know the Vegan, Meet the Naturalite

Reading the ingredients of the foods you eat is of utmost importance to the Naturalite's lifestyle.

“A naturalite is someone who focuses on getting off the highly processed foods like a vegan focuses on getting off the meat products. Some naturalites eat meat and some don’t, but we all know the ingredients matter. Some vegans are naturalites and don’t even know it.”

These are the sentiments of Jabez El-Israel, best-selling author of “Life Matters So Let’s Eat Like It” and “The More We Grow The More We’ll See, Everything We Need Is Free”. Jabez also published a family cookbook with over sixty recipes that follow the “Naturalite” principles. Having lost 100 pounds following a diet of eating only minimally processed foods, Jabez coined the term “Naturalite”, as “vegan” or “vegetarian” would not be a suitable fit to his lifestyle.

Jabez is an avid gardener (some would even say farmer), who seems intent on dispelling the myths about eating healthily, as well as those myths that would discourage the otherwise willing from starting a home garden. Jabez follows the virtue of “each one, teach one”, understanding that most people are not made privy to the knowledge that they can truthfully live, thrive and feed their families with minimal trips to the grocery store. However, his method is not unreasonable. Jabez knows that with growing your own food comes patience, but patience doesn't cure hunger, so you’re still going to have to go grocery shopping.

According to the Naturalite principals, you can still eat all the rice, cookies, cakes, pastas and even some meats you like, you just need to focus on eating the right versions of those things. The 989K subscribers on his @Jabez_invests YouTube channel seem to agree.

Reading the ingredients of the foods you eat is of utmost importance to the Naturalite lifestyle. In fact, the entire concept is centered around just that. Replacing foods that are “enriched”, for example (rice, bread, pasta), with the versions of those foods that are not enriched (meaning the life-germ has not been extracted and replaced with synthetic nutrients), is one of the methods used to ensure one's ‘naturalism’. Substituting foods that contain salt with those that contain sea salt is another recommendation of Jabez, as iodized table salt can cause issues like water retention and weight gain, among others.

Going from the pantry back to the backyard, Jabez shares his extensive knowledge of how easily one can take what you would normally throw away, and use it to sustain your family instead. He also shares methods of propagation, proper methods of composting and even rainwater collection strategies that are all tried and true. Whether you are looking to adjust your eating habits, or you want to learn how to grow your own food, Jabez El-Israel has you covered.

Jabez is a humble man, who would probably disagree with my characterization of the Naturalite lifestyle as a movement. Suffice it to say, he has opened the eyes of thousands of people to how they can be their better selves, by eating healthier and saving money while doing it. Or as Jabez would say; “For the Free”. Prayers up, blessings up!
