2 Officers Banged Up In East Austin Fender Bender

Motorist rear-ends unmarked police vehicle stopped at E. 5th and Tillery streets, leaving one complaining of neck and back pain.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — An unmarked police patrol vehicle was rear-ended in East Austin on Saturday, leaving the two officers inside with minor injuries, according to reports.

The incident occurred at around 5:15 p.m. at the corner of East 5th and Tillery streets, just east of North Pleasant Valley Road, KXAN reported. to police. The police vehicle was stopped at the intersection when another car hit it from behind, according to the report.

The officers inside weren't seriously hurt in the incident, save for neck and back pain endured by one of the officers. But just to be safe, police told the news station both officers were transported to Dell Seton Medical Center for medical evaluation.

An investigation into what may have caused the collision is being conducted, according to police. The motorist who rear-ended the patrol car is said to have stayed at the scene in cooperating with the investigation. It's unclear if any charges will be filed against the driver.
