Austin Police Activities League Stages Youth Boxing Matches

Top youth boxing competitors from across Texas will compete on Aug. 11 at the Oswaldo A.B. Cantú​/Pan Am Rec Center.

AUSTIN, TX — The Police Activities League (PAL) of Austin is hosting their amateur boxing and family event this Saturday, and invites the public to take in a match or two.

Top youth boxing competitors from across Texas will compete alongside Austin PAL Youth on Aug. 11 at the Oswaldo A.B. Cantú/Pan Am Rec Center, 2100 E. 3rd St.

In addition to the fights, a local doctor will be on hand to provide free sports physicals on a first come, first serve basis starting at 1:30 p.m., police said in a press advisory. Physicals are open to middle school and high school students with paid entry. Tickets are only $5, and children 10 and younger get in free.

PAL was founded as a nonprofit organization for the purpose of bringing youth together with police officers. Austin PAL Boxing is sponsored by Austin PAL as a youth development program. Police officers and volunteers help youth develop positive sportsmanship and other beneficial life skills through sports and activities.
