Austin Police ID Woman Killed Along Airport Boulevard After Vehicle Rear-Ended At Stop Light
Deborah Ann Halswell, 52, died when the car she was driving was hit from behind as she slowed for a stop light on May 1.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Police on Friday identified the driver killed earlier this month when her vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle at Airport Boulevard.
On May 1, a 2014 Freightliner truck was traveling southbound along the 3800 block of Airport Boulevard in the center lane before slowing to stop for a red light at the intersection of 38 1/2 Street. The driver of a 2011 Ford Expedition failed to keep a proper distance and struck the Freighliner's trailer from behind, police said.
The driver of the Expedition, Deborah Ann Halswell, 52, was rushed to University Medical Center Brackenridge for treatment of her injuries, but died shortly after her arrival.

In their advisory, police didn't specify whether the other driver faces charges. The motorist causing the accident was not identified.

The collision marked Austin’s 26th fatal traffic crash of 2017, police said. At this time in 2016, there were 22 fatal traffic crashes and 22 traffic fatalities, officials added.
