Bank Robber Flees On Foot After East Austin Bank Heist, Quickly Apprehended
Stephen Wilson, 34, is charged with robbery by threat after Chase bank branch is hit, and now faces a 2nd degree felony.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — A bank robber's flight was short-lived on Wednesday afternoon after police nabbed him just moments after a Chase bank branch heist in East Austin.
On Thursday, police said Stephen Wilson, 34, entered the bank branch located at 2119 E. 7th St., passed a handwritten note to a teller and demanded money. He then fled on foot but was quickly captured by patrol officers near East 7th Street and Pleasant Valley Road, recovering the stolen cash in the process.
Wilson is said to have confessed to the robbery during his interview with detectives, and was booked into the Travis County Jail under a charge of robbery by threat, a 2nd degree felony, police said.
