Bulging Sock Alerts Police To Man Trying To Smuggle Pot Through Austin Airport Security
John Alvey, 44, was arrested for the hidden marijuana and police said they later found a small bag of meth in his wallet.

AUSTIN, TX — A man was arrested this week for trying to smuggle a bag of weed through airport security, his plan thwarted when a sharp-eyed security official noticing his bulging sock.
Referencing an arrest affidavit on the matter, the Austin American-Statesman reported that John Alvey, 44, was busted as he tried passing through a security checkpoint Monday at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
According to the document, a Transportation Security Agency officer spotted a bulge above the man's shoe during a body scan at the airport's south terminal. That bulge prompted the TSA agent to alert the authorities. Subsequently, a little bag filled with methamphetamine was discovered in the man's wallet.

Records indicate Alvey was booked into the Travis County Jail as a result, charged with possession of a controlled substance.
