4 People Lose Homes After Car Smashes Through Townhouses

Incident around 11 p.m. along 2700 block of Halycon Drive in The Orchard community left no injuries, but four residents displaced.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — A vehicle crashed into a pair of townhouses in East Austin on Wednesday night — crashing from one building through another adjacent to it — with dramatic photos by fire officials illustrating the damage caused.

Despite the structure damage, neither the vehicle's occupant nor anyone inside the buildings were injured, emergency officials said. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. along the 2700 block of Halycon Drive near North Pleasant Valley Road in the dubbed The Orchard. The driver of the stolen truck that hit the buildings fled the scene, officials said.

Notwithstanding the lack of injuries, four residents have been displaced from their homes, according to fire officials.
