Driver Rams Stolen SUV Into Power Line, SUV Catches Fire

Emergency had to close intersection in order to put out fire and repair power line.

EAST AUSTIN, TX -- A motorist driving a stolen SUV hit an East Austin power line Thursday night that sparked a fire, officials said.

Police say the crash occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Fourth and Comal Streets, the Austin American-Statesman reported. The force of the impact caused the vehicle to catch fire.

A man was detained in connection to the crash, but it was uncertain if he was the individual driving the SUV.
