East Austin Assault Incident Sparked Over Overcooked Food
Joshua Bridgers, 29, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in incident that started over his displeasure with meal.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Police recently arrested a man on assault charges after being accused of physically abusing his girlfriend for serving him an overcooked meal.
Newly released details of the Jan. 3 incident are contained in an arrest affidavit referenced in a report by KEYE. Austin Police were called to an apartment complex at 2823 E. Martin Luther King Boulevard after the victim's outcry after allegedly being assaulted by her boyfriend.
The victim said she went to bed after she and Joshua Bridgers, 29, argued over the dinner being overcooked when he took the food and threw it on her while also dumping water on the woman, according to the report. The woman said the man also threw a six=inch kitchen knife at her, although it missed hitting her, she told police.

As the woman tried to flee, Bridgers is alleged to have place his hand around her neck forcefully, the news station reported. In the affidavit, she details allegedly being strangled while the suspect hurled epithets at her while telling her she should hang herself from the apartment balcony, according to the affidavit.
After more physical abuse, the woman was able to exit the apartment before flagging down University of Texas ast Austin police officers along the 1900 block of Congress Avenue. Upon arrival of police, Bridgers was said to have been found with scratch marks consistent with a struggle, according to the report.

Bridgers was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which is a 2nd-degree felony.
