East Austin Pedestrian Injured After Being Hit By Car

Adult female victim rushed to hospital for treatment amid a seemingly growing trend of pedestrian injuries and deaths throughout the city.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — A pedestrian was injured Monday evening after being hit by a car in East Austin.

Austin-Travis County EMS medics were dispatched to the corner of Springdale and Oak Springs Drive at around 5:20 p.m. to tend to the injured pedestrian. The adult female victim sustained potentially serious injuries for which she was taken for treatment at Dell Seton Medical Center.

It's unclear what may have caused the collision or if the driver involved was cited by police.

The incident comes amid a seemingly growing number of pedestrian injuries and deaths in a city experiencing brisk growth. The trend of such injuries prompted the Texas Department of Transportation to launch a public awareness campaign late last year with the theme "Be Safe Be Seen" designed to promote pedestrian safety.
