East Austin Resident Records Car Burglars In Action With Surveillance Camera: VIDEO
The resident hopes that the footage might lead to arrests and an end to a rash of thefts in his neighborhood.

East Austin, TX -- Surveillance video showing car burglars in action in East Austin has been handed over to police, who have assigned a detective to the case, according to a television news report.
KEYE-TV reports that a resident of East Austin, Ian Sights, took the footage that shows four people driving slowly along Agatha Circle at around 4:30 a.m. on June 21. The video shows the suspects going from one driveway to the next searching unlocked cars.
Sights gave the video to police, who are hoping it might lead to arrests. East Austin has been beset by car burglaries in recent weeks. Sights said belongings have been taken from cars that were left unlocked in his neighborhood.

"It's a crime of opportunity and unfortunately some people forgot to lock their things," Sights told the television station.
His advice to the suspects: "Get a skill, get a good job, learn some stuff, help a kid, do something positive. Don't be stealing stuff. It's ridiculous."
