East Austin Shooting Leaves One Man Dead, Another Injured

Police responded to a shooting in the 1800 block of Elmira, where a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

EAST AUSTIN, TX -- A shooting late Thursday left one man dead and another injured, according to police.

Police responded to the 1800 block of Elmira Road at about 9:30 p.m. after reports of gunfire in the area. A helicopter also was dispatched to the scene to try to locate a suspect or suspects, police said via their Twitter account.

According to media reports, the mortally wounded victim is a man in his 20s who was dead at the scene. A second victim was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge for injuries not expected to be life-threatening, according to Austin-Travis County EMS officials.
