SWAT Standoff Ensues After East Austin Man Threatens Family With Gun
The standoff ended Thursday morning after officers used bean bag round and a taser to bring the man into custody.

A SWAT standoff in East Austin is over after police used a taser and bean bag rounds to bring a man into custody.
Police were called to the 6100 block of Garden View Drive at 3 a.m. after being notified that a man was threatening three members of family with a gun, police told Patch. When police arrived the man’s family was able to make it out of the home, but he refused to leave. SWAT was called to the scene and a standoff ensued until 6:45 a.m.

The man, described to be in his 30s, exited the house once during the standoff, but then quickly re-entered. The second time he exited police said he appeared to have a stick or a pipe in his hands. That’s when police said they used a taser and bean bag rounds to subdue the man and take him into custody.
