East Austin Traffic Fatality Victim, Driver Who Fled Scene IDed
Feb. 23 collision resulted in the death of Josman James, 20, and arrest of Ashley Shelsea Rodriguez-Dominguez, 19, for fleeing scene.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Police on Monday identified the driver who died in an East Austin traffic collision last weekend as well as the other driver later arrested for fleeing the scene.
The incident dates to Friday, Feb. 23, just past 10:30 p.m., and occurred along the 6400 block of Decker Lane. According to a police investigation, a Cadillac CTS and a Nisan Murano were both traveling northbound on Decker Lane approaching Loyola Lane when the former vehicle struck the latter, pushing the Cadillac into the southbound lane where it collided with another vehicle.
The driver of the Cadillac CTS, Ashley Shelsea Rodriguez-Dominguez, 19, is said to have fled on foot after the crash before being apprehended. She has been charged with failure to stop and render aid. The driver of the vehicle she crashed into, Josman James, 20, was rushed to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he later died.

The collision marked Austin's tenth fatal traffic crash of 2018, resulting in eleven fatalities this year. At this time in 2017, there were ten fatal traffic crashes and ten traffic fatalities, police noted.
