East Side Stabbing Suspect Identified UPDATE
Roberto Sandoval, 50, allegedly stabbed roommate.

EAST AUSTIN, TX -- Austin police have identified the suspect in a Wednesday night stabbing on the East Side.
Roberto Sandoval, 50, is charged with stabbing a female victim a police spokeswoman said was his roommate. The unidentified woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Arrested at the scene, Sandoval subsequently was formally charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police responded to a call of a stabbing in the 900 block of Springdale Road shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday. Once there, they found the injured victim and arrested Sandoval at the scene.

A police spokeswoman said the two were roommates, but no details as to the motive for the crime is known. Sandoval remains in custody as the investigation continues.
