Firefighters Fight Fire At Abandoned East Austin Home (Video)
Accumulated junk inside the structure made inaccessible due to burglar bars frustrated firefighters' efforts to extinguish blaze.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Firefighters reported to a fire at an abandoned East Austin house Tuesday evening.
The blaze erupted at around 5 p.m. at 1125 Shady Lane. Most of the fire was extinguished swiftly, but accumulated piles of junk inside the abandoned structure behind burglar bars, forcing firefighters to stay on the scene overnight to monitor the site and ensure remaining embers didn't reignite into flames.
No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is unclear. A wintry blast has been blamed on a handful of fires as residents improperly use space heaters by placing them too close to combustible materials.
