From Sept. 8:
DEL VALLE, TX -- Four people found dead after a fire in an East Travis County home Thursday morning may actually be homicide victims with apparent gunshot wounds, law enforcement officials said.
Firefighters arrived at the home in the 8200 block of Linden Road in Del Valle -- just three miles from the Circuit of the Americas racetrack site -- just before 6 a.m. A nearby resident called the fire department to report smoke emanating from the house, a Travis County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said at a subsequently staged press conference.
Kristin Dark, the spokeswoman, said injuries "inconsistent with a fire" found on the victims are likely gunshot wounds. She identified a possible victim, 26-year-old Matthew Aaron Barber, who lives at the home. Yet Dark conceded it's not clear if Barber is a victim, but officials have confirmed he lived at the home.
The other victims were not identified.
"We're asking anyone who knows Matthew, and who knows what might have been going on at this address to call us," Dark said at the press conference. “Neighbors have described vehicles moving back and forth, we’d like to know what kind of vehicles you are seeing? When do they travel? Do you know anyone driving those vehicles? Whatever we can find out is going to help us in this case.”
This is a developing story. Patch will update as more details are made available.
Those with information are urged to call the Travis County Sheriff's Office at 512-472-8477.
