Honor Flight Austin To Fly 50 Vets To Washington, D.C.
In year's first special flight and 50th overall, war veterans will be flown to nation's capital to see monuments built in their honor.

AUSTIN, TX — The 50th Honor Flight Austin transport on Friday will take as many area veterans — from World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War — on a trip to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials in their honor, officials said.
Sponsored by the Nyle Maxwell Family of Dealerships, the flight will flight is scheduled to depart from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on Friday, April 6, at 11:55 a.m. for arrival at Ronald Reagan National Airport at 4 p.m. The 50 veterans will return the next day, departing at 3:30 p.m. before arriving in Austin at 6:10 p.m.
Kicked off in a big way, this is Honor Flight Austin’s first flight of 2018 with four more scheduled this year. The veterans are scheduled to arrive in the local airport's ticketing area at around 10 a.m. on Friday, with a procession led by the TSA Honor Guard and Austin Police Department bag pipes players.

The flight is operated by Southwest Airlines, with The Hilton Austin Airport serving as a corporate sponsor of Honor Flight Austin. Lunch and refreshments will be provided to veterans courtesy of ThunderCloud Subs prior to their trip. Trips on Honor Flight are made possible at no cost to the veterans through donations.
