Key East Austin Artery Closed For A Year For Construction Work

Starting Monday, Loyola Lane will be inaccessible where it crosses U.S. Highway 183 for bridge work and to develop future toll road.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — As of Monday, Loyola Lane in East Austin will be shut down at the point where it crosses U.S. Highway 183 for a year to accommodate nearby bridge construction, regional transportation officials said.

Also slated for closure, Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority officials said, is Loyola Lane west of U.S. 183 for roughly two months while crews work on new lane additions. Moreover, there will not be bicycle or pedestrian access across U.S. 183 at Loyola Lane.

Eventually, Loyola Lane will be transformed into a bridge above the new U.S. 183 South Expressway, which will be a toll road with three, non-tolled lanes running in each direction for some eight miles along a stretch between U.S. 290 and State Highway 71.
