Man Accused Of Stealing East Austin Kids' Charity Funds
Tommie Adams, 50, allegedly swiped money donated for a funeral and then put a box cutter on a man who confronted him.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — A man is accused of stealing cash from children raising money for a funeral in East Austin, according to a published report.
Tommie Adams, 50, was arrested on Saturday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest and obstruction or retaliation, according to Travis County Jail records.
Referencing an arrest affidavit in its report, the Austin American-Statesman reported that the victimized children were soliciting donations from drivers at the intersection of East 7th Street and Pleasant Valley Road when a motorist stopped at a red light and held out some cash for the kids before Adams walked up and grabbed the money.

When confronted by another man, Adams pulled out a box cutter and held it by his side, according to the affidavit. Adams was later arrested while on a bus, with police using a stun gun on him before taking him into custody, according to the report.
Adams was booked into the Travis County Jail with bail set at $30,000. A booking photo was unavilable.
