Man Charged With Threatening Neighbors With Machete

The man was involved in a fight early Thursday morning that was broken up by a neighbor. But he later returned, this time with a machete.

An East Austin man is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly threatening to kill his neighbors with a machete.

Dionicio Garcia-Villanueva had been involved in a fight with his neighbor Thursday morning at 6:20 outside the High Point Village on the 2400 block of Wickersham Lane, reported KVUE. After the fight was broken up, Garcia-Villanueva returned to a neighbor’s apartment with a machete and said, “I got something for you,” according to an arrest affidavit acquired by KVUE.

At that point Garcia-Villanueva allegedly started swinging the machete at the door, walls and windows with the machete, police said in the arrest record. The victim of the attack — the man who broke up the earlier fight — had to fend Garcia-Villanueva away with a brook after he had stuck his hand and the machete through the window of the apartment, read the affidavit.

When officers arrived at the apartment complex, they spotted Garcia-Villanueva trying to gain access to an apartment balcony by climbing a tree, KVUE reported. He fled the scene, but was ultimately arrested near a different apartment complex, police said.

Garcia-Villanueva was being held on$60,000 bond as of Friday afternoon, reported KVUE.
