Man Shot After Firing At Police In East Austin [Video]
Family members identified the man as Lawrence Parrish, 21, who is in stable condition; four officers placed on administrative duty.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — A man is at a hospital after a gunfight with Austin police after he reportedly fired at officers responding to a disturbance call in East Austin, law enforcement officials said.
The incident occurred at around 10 p.m. in the 6300 block of Parliament Drive. No one else was injured except for the man said to have fired at police, who has since been identified as 31-year-old Lawrence Parrish. Police have not identified the suspect, but family members confirmed the information to the Austin American-Statesman on Saturday.
In a subsequent press conference, Police Chief Brian Manley said the man, who was initially inside the home when police arrived, appeared to be under the influence of "some type of alcohol or drug." The man finally emerged from the dwelling with what appeared to be a handgun before going back inside, Manley said.

A SWAT team was then called out, but the man fired at officers after exiting the house again, Manley said. Officers at the scene dropped to the ground and returned fire, he said, hitting the man in the doorway of the home.
It's unclear where the man was hit, but he is in stable condition after undergoing surgery, family members told the newspaper.

The four officers involved in the incident will be placed on administrative duty, as is the protocol during officer-involved shootings. Manley didn't identify the officers involved by name, but said one has been on the department for five months, another for four years and a third for five years. Manley didn't specify how long the fourth officer has been on the force.
